This week the New York International Auto Show kicked off and has already been giving the world a litany of EV news. Outside the show, there is a surge of updates like Proterra launching a new E-bus with more than 300 miles of range. We saw more announcements from Chrysler and Kia, while states plan for more EVs over the coming years. Take a look at some of our highlights this week and give us your feedback @REACHStrategies. Cars/Buses/Trucks

• The Electric Ford F-150 has a launch date of April 26, 2022! 
• Toyota unveiled a new EV for the first time since 2014, the bZ4X! It has 252 miles on a single charge and is the first of its bZ (Beyond Zero) brand, with Toyota promising 15 EVs by 2025. 
• Chrysler revealed its concept Airflow Graphite SUV that will have up to 400 miles of range with fast charging capabilities. While it is a concept, Chrysler has promised to be a fully electric brand by 2028 and promising a lineup of 15 EVs by 2025. 
• A few months ago, we highlighted the iconic VW Bus becoming electric with a release date TBD. The company announced it will be released at the start of 2023 with pre-orders available on their website! 
• In 2023, Proterra’s new transit  ZX5 Max E-bus will have more battery energy storage for V2G capabilities, but it will also come with more than 300 miles of range of battery capacity. 

Legislation/Reports

• The California Air Resource Board launched a proposal to triple EV sales over the next four years by requiring new car sales by 2026 to be zero-emission vehicles. California also released its plan to phase out gas-powered cars by 2035 that was an executive order first announced in September 2020. 

EVs for Business

• Hyundai has announced that it will build a factory in the U.S., part of its $7.4 influx of manufacturing for U.S. plants, that will produce EVs and batteries, as well as future smart features. 
• Ford, and other manufacturers, could potentially see a significant gain in battery expenses in the next few years as its supplier, LG Energy Solutions, are seeing rising costs in the sector. 
• Envision ASEC, a battery manufacturing company, has started plans to build a plant in Kentucky that will create over 2,000 jobs and is part of $2 billion investment to make that state a leader in battery production.
